Award Nominations & Book Giveaway
Hey friends!
This month I’m in the thick of drafting my second novel (working title “Thread Witch”), which is a genderbent Sleeping Beauty retelling brimming with curses, deadly secrets, strange magic, and—as always—true love.
Because I’ve had my head down writing, I haven’t updated y’all on some important stuff, so here it is!
Iron Rose has been Nominated!
Iron Rose was nominated for the Montaigne Medal and is currently a finalist. This is an amazing honor within the Eric Hoffer Awards that recognizes thought-provoking books.
It was always my hope that Iron Rose would—in addition to sweeping people away in the action and love story—touch people’s souls. So to have my dark YA Beauty & the Beast reimagining singled out by strangers as a work that goes the beyond the surface makes me feel so incredibly seen.
The winners of the Montaigne Medal will be announced on April 14th. Book award season is upon us, so hopefully I’ll have good news for y’all late spring/early summer!
I’m Hosting a Giveaway 🤍
I’ve partnered with another awesome dark YA author, Susan Shepard, to create the Library Run Giveaway. We’re accepting entries through April 11th and winners will be notified via email on April 12th.
How to Enter
1. Request "Iron Rose" by Abigail O'Bryan & "Curse of the Winter Lord" by Susan Shepard for purchase at your local library
2. Take a screenshot of your request
3. Submit the screenshot here!
All the info you need to submit requests to your library is in the form itself! ☺️
The Prizes:
📚3 digital copies of Iron Rose
🖋️1 paperback copy Curse of the Winter Lord (signed!)
🖋️1 hardback copy of Iron Rose (signed!)
📚 A $25 GC to Bookshop.org
This is a win-win contest. Even if you don’t get a prize, there's a good chance your library will purchase the books for you, so you'll still get to read them for free and make them available to your whole community! Good luck!
Writing Conferences
I’m excited to have been invited to be a speaker at WriterCon this August in OKC! Though I live in Utah now, I grew up in Oklahoma and it feels special to me to be able to return and give back to a place that I hold dear to my heart.
I loved being a panelist at LTUE last month and I highly recommend the conference for anyone looking for an affordable and incredible learning experience! It was filled with great people and informative sessions, and I hope to be part of it again next year.
Thanks for hanging out with me for a bit & always remember that you matter. (And get yourself a snack!)
💕Abigail
