Ambushed!
Dreams & The Pack's Release
A very lovely day to you!
Pause a moment.
I give you my blessing to take this moment and go reheat your coffee, get yourself a glass of water, take a few slow breaths, or find a snack.
That just feels better, right? To let ourselves stop in the midst of a busy and demanding world and do something, no matter how small, that refreshes us.
Have you ever been ambushed by a dream?
For those of you who don’t know, I have two small children— Atticus & Constance— and before they came into the world, I worked HARD to get Iron Rose published for years and years. Continuous rejections drained my soul. So, after agonizing for a long time, I banked the embers of that dream, unwilling to let it die completely but honestly not knowing if I would ever come back to it.
I certainly didn’t think I’d jump into a writing career before my kids were in school. But when opportunity literally called, I couldn’t say no.
And oh boy has it been terrifying!
Just wonderfully and breath-takingly frightening. I’m told that’s how you know it’s your dream.
Speaking of ambushes, there may be a few of them in my newest short story, The Pack. If you haven’t already claimed your free copy, you can get it right here!
If your weekend (or TBR) needs a quick, impactful story, The Pack is here for you! I love reader reactions, so messages are welcome.
The longer I am alive, the more I am convinced that everything takes more time than people let on. Everyone’s journey is different, even if it’s in the same industry or with seemingly the same set of circumstances, and I want to acknowledge and validate you wherever you are in your journey.
You don’t have a passion? That’s alright.
You’re inexperienced but enthusiastic? Be there.
You are beaten down? You are seen and still worthy.
The things you love are on hold because of life circumstances? You and your dreams are not forgotten.
You’re pursuing a dream? Keep showing up authentically.
In every stage, only you can show up and be the unique person you are in the world! It is all valuable because you are valuable, regardless of how “productive” you are right now or whether or not things are panning out the way you hoped.
I adore the poet Mary Oliver; I have found this poem of hers so encouraging as I have waited for many different things in my life.
“Don’t Worry”
Things take the time they take. Don’t worry.

Speaking of things taking time, Iron Rose will be released this August! I cannot wait for you all to get to experience these beloved characters (many of whom are in The Pack) and their adventures!
It seems simultaneously too far away and too close as I work hard on a second novel *rubs hands together* and learn how to market while raising children and continuing (ostensibly) to have a life. Feel free to send prayers, vibes, or encouragements my way— I’m going to need it!
But I feel so incredibly blessed to be here, writing worlds and hearts, and so happy that you are here to share in the journey!
Thanks for being part of my clan!
—Abigail
